Visible permissions for all objects
Permissions for applications are now able to be quickly viewed by toggling on "Show Extra Columns"
In this view, you will be able to see how many orgs, courses, classes, users, enrollments, academic sessions, and demographics the app is allowed to see. This makes it easier to see how many users can access a particular app.
Clicking on the numbers below "Orgs" and "Courses" will bring up the Permissions list where you are able to add or remove courses and orgs.
Explore in API
Click on the three dots on the right-hand side of each app to show the drop-down list of actions. The newest action is "Explore in API" which opens up the REST API in a new tab. The key and secret for that app will automatically be pasted in the required fields, making multiple API searches quicker and less tedious.
Once you are inside the REST API, navigation continues as normal.
Improvements have been made to the Preview Data section so that user enrollments can be viewed in a manner which is more human-readable.
Clicking on any of the rows in Users will slide in a side menu which shows all of the users' enrollments.
The side menu will contain the user's sourcedId, his/her name, the org that he belongs to, which grade he/she is in, and what enrollment data the user has. You would be able to use this data to quickly check which classes a student is enrolled in, without having to find the student's sourcedId and perform a search using the Find feature.
Clicking on any row in Classes will bring out a side menu with more information about that class.
The side menu contains the sourcedId of the class, the class title, the org that class belongs to, the grade that it's taught at, the teachers of that class, and the students attending. This allows you to quickly check class rosters to see if a particular class does not have either students or teachers.
This expanded view is only available on the Classes and Users tab.
Getting Started in RosterServer Guide
There is now a guide in RosterServer that guides new districts through the setup process. Existing clients can go through the guide as well and fill in any missing information from when they first started using RosterServer's features. Important pieces of information that each district should have goes as follows: contact information, which Student Information System (SIS) the district uses, activating sync, and setting thresholds.
