- Install Google Chrome
- Run all Windows Updates
The OneSync Installer will create and configure a database server and website for your OneSync account. The listed items are required and included with your installation:
- Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5
- IIS 5.0
When beginning the installation process, the installer will prompt you for a database name (“onesync”), username, password, and IP address used to create it. If you are registering on your local machine, the username will be “root”. The installer will also ask you to select a site to deploy your OneSync account to. If you do not have a pre-existing website and choose Default Web Site, the Installer will generate a website for you using IIS on your local machine. If the database is hosted on the same server as the website, you can enter “127.0.0.1” as the IP address to refer to your local machine. Otherwise, you must enter the IP address and credentials for the server on which your database is located. Click "Next" to proceed through the installation process.
After clicking "Install", the installer will download and install MariaDB. Click "Next" to proceed through the installation process.
The MariaDB installer will prompt you for the username and password that you initially set in the OneSync installer, in order to authorize access to your OneSync database. If registered on your local machine, the username will be “root”.
The installer will then create and configure your database for you. Click "Next" to proceed through the installation process.
The following window will then pop-up to install IIS 5.0. Click "Install" to proceed through the installation process.
This is the final prerequisite program that will be installed. You can click "Finish" in the IIS and OneSync installation windows to complete the overall installation process.
Note: If you want to host your database on a different computer than the one that you are running the installer on, you must manually download MariaDB, set the credentials, and create the database and schema on that computer. You can find the most recent downloads of MariaDB at: https://downloads.mariadb.org/. You can then create the database and schema via MariaDB’s command line using the following SQL statements: “CREATE DATABASE onesync; CREATE SCHEMA onesync;”.
After you have run the installer, you may log into your OneSync portal using the default username and password: admin, 12345. If you do not have a SSL certificate, the website can be accessed at at “http://localhost”.
Note: It is strongly advised that you configure an SSL certificate for your OneSync website in order to secure your user data.
When a new build is pushed to production, "Update Available" will appear next to an update button on the Settings page. Click this button to update your build. The Current Version number will increment to confirm a successful download.
If you are installing on Windows 2012 and IIS fails to install, ensure that the executable is not blocked by windows.
